The Intern movie inspires the interior architecture of this industrial-modern space.
Whether it’s for artists or executives, coworking office spaces have become an increasingly popular way for individuals to work outside the home without having to take on the full cost of a rental space. WhenTenthirtyCoworking owner Jason Gabbert needed assistance with architectural permit drawings and interior design, he approached Ascent Architecture & Interiors,
The Intern, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, inspired Gabbert’s vision for the 1,136-square-foot space, located downtown in the same building as Bend’s iconic Deschutes Brewery pub. He loved the industrial/modern style displayed in the movie’s Brooklyn, New York, set and asked Ascent to help him achieve a similar aesthetic.
Working closely with Gabbert and the contractor, Mission Building and Renovation owner Francis Senger, Ascent’s team kept two main points in mind: making the best possible use of the space and finding a way to keep the space from getting too noisy when full of working people. With hard floors and an open ceiling, the latter presented a challenge. Ascent offered the solution of an acoustical panel ceiling cloud, which is made up of curved shapes that absorb sound.
A small conference room was added to provide a more private work space when needed, and the logo on the entry wall helps brand the space. To tie together the entire project, Ascent’s team planned conference room windows that are similar to the existing exterior storefront-style windows.
The final product, with furniture picked by the owner, is an industrial modern space with pops of color, lots of natural light and features that provide the best possible experience for working professionals.
TenthirtyCoworking, according to its website, has become a coworking space for creative professionals to build, create and launch their best work with the power of collaboration without the rest of the world’s noise. The professional and creative environment removes you from the distracting daily shuffle and ever-changing atmospheres at our local coffee shop and places you in an energetic, collaborative and organized coworking setting.
