The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend held their inaugural Club 105 ceremony at the downtown club on Thursday, December 18. Club staff, parents and community members came together to recognize and support youth who have attended Club at least 105 days in 2025. When children first join the Boys & Girls Club of Bend, they are given a membership card. When they reach the halfway point to 105 days, they receive a Silver membership card, and at 105 days of attendance they receive a Gold membership card. Each card offers the kids special privileges within the Boys & Girls Clubs.
Local representatives and members from the Bend community, and Club representatives were paired with a Club member and when called to the stage by CEO Michael Baker presented their youth with a special gold card commemorating the time they’ve spent with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend, growing, playing, and learning.
CEO Michael Baker explains, “We know from data collected over decades within Boys & Girls Clubs all over the country that the magic number is 105 days. If we can get a member to attend 105 days or more in the same calendar year, they are twice as likely to graduate high school on time and twice as likely to lead a healthy lifestyle. So, we created CLUB 105.”
Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend extends a heartfelt thank you to Mayor Melanie Kebler, Michael Hancock from the Bethlehem Inn, Kristina Whaley with Beaver Coach Sales, Cheri Helt with Zydeco, Community Leader Jim Crowell, Chris Piper from BBSI, Representative Jason Kropf, Bola Gbadebo, and BGCB Board Members Justin Varland, Colleen Brosman, Vicki Nakata, TJ Murphy, Jana Cain, Dan Kieffer, Emma Harker, Trent Oki, and Board Chair Danielle Rosenfield for attending the event, and creating a special moment for Club youth by presenting them with their special Gold cards.
