Maragas Winery will be hosting two wine events this November that will benefit The NeighborImpact food bank. For every ticket sold, $5 will be donated to the food bank.
In light of national budget cuts and the current absence of SNAP benefits, the Central Oregon food bank is our choice for this holiday giving.
The first event will be held Saturday November 22. Doug Maragas, winemaker for Maragas Winery, emphasized that “we are all very excited about this first annual Central Oregon Wine Collective Tasting.” There will be six wineries participating at the tasting held at Maragas Winery. To be included in the tasting, the wine must be either made here in Central Oregon or made from grapes grown in Central Oregon. “This is Central Oregon’s first collective tasting of this kind, and we plan to make it an annual tradition.”
Present for the tasting will be six wineries: Black Goat, Ermisch, Faith Hope and Charity, Lava Cellars, Maragas, and Redside Ranch. “The event is significant in that it’s a testament to the great grapes and winemaking abilities here in Central Oregon –19 years after the first vineyards were established here by Maragas Winery and Ranch at the Canyons in 2006.”
Many of the wines being tasted will have earned awards in national competitions. It all adds up to a great historical experience for Central Oregonians.
Tickets and more information available online at maragaswinery.com. Tickets are $20. The event will be Saturday November 22 from 12-6pm.
Following this Event, a week later, will be our Annual Barrel Tasting at Maragas Winery. Always a fun and educational experience. This year Maragas will be highlighting their flagship wine “M.” Again, $5 from every ticket sold will be donated to the NeighborImpact food bank.
The event will include a five wine vertical flight of “M,” two vintages still in barrel, and three in bottle. “Guests will be able to taste this Bordeaux varietal blend as it changes from vintage to vintage and from barrel to bottle.” This type of event is rare and more often reserved for winemakers.
Tickets and more information available online at maragaswinery.com. Tickets are $25. The event will be Saturday November 29 from 12-6pm.
