At the next City Club of Central Oregon Forum, OSU President Ed Ray will discuss a new study about the size and scope of Oregon State University’s contributions to the economy and society, and how the university’s economic footprint now totals $2.06 billion, with more than $1.93 billion of that in Oregon.

The Forum takes place on Thursday, April 19 at St. Charles Medical Center conference rooms.  The deadline for registration is Monday, April 16.

OSU President Ed Ray will discuss how OSU’s economic impact has grown by almost $500 million – an increase of 33 percent – over the past five years.  President Ray will also address the growing academic, research, outreach and financial impact of OSU in Central Oregon, including through OSU-Cascades’ expanding academic and research programs and physical presence,  and increasing opportunities for faculty collaboration, research commercialization, and student involvement in local businesses and organizations. He will be joined by OSU-Cascades Vice President Becky Johnson at the City Club presentation.

Conducted by the ECONorthwest consulting firm, the economic impact analysis noted significant, across-the-board increases at OSU that grew the university’s impact throughout Oregon, as well as its effects on the nation and world.  The state’s largest public research university, OSU simultaneously holds the Carnegie Foundation’s top ranking for research universities, as well as its prestigious “community engagement” designation for extensive service to the public.
